My Story

Hi, and thanks for visiting!

I’m Danielle Robinson — a literary commentator, critic, and interviewer with a life shaped by ideas, aesthetics, faith, creativity, and an enduring love of books. My work sits at the intersection of rigorous thinking and lived experience, drawing on formal studies in theology and philosophy, alongside years spent working as a pastor, investigative researcher, and journalist. I’ve always been interested in how stories shape belief, culture, identity, and the quiet decisions we make about who we are.

Before this chapter, I spent many years as a multi-award-winning, internationally published makeup artist, fashion stylist, and creative consultant — a career grounded in visual storytelling, discipline, and craft. Creativity has never been a phase for me; it’s been the through-line. Whether working with faces, garments, words, or ideas, I’ve always been drawn to depth over surface and meaning over noise.

I’m also a mother to three now-grown children, each living rich, independent lives of their own — a role that has informed my reading, my thinking, and my sense of perspective more than any qualification ever could.

Today, life has softened into a slower, more intentional rhythm. I live in semi-rural South East Queensland in a rambling Queenslander with my husband and childhood sweetheart, Alex, alongside our cat Lucien and dog Oscar. Surrounded by French-inspired interiors, long light-filled days, and shelves of well-loved books, this is where I read widely, think carefully, and write honestly.

This platform reflects all of that — considered criticism, thoughtful conversation, and a belief that literature deserves both seriousness and pleasure, handled with care and curiosity rather than haste or hype.
